Le Normand, the Only 'Rojiblanco' in the Spanish National Team
The Spanish national team coach, Luis de la Fuente, has unveiled the squad list for the crucial matches against the Netherlands, in preparation for the Nations League Final Four. To the pride of the ‘Colchoneros’ fans, Robin Le Normand is the only representative of Atlético de Madrid in this squad.
Despite not going through his best form, the coach has placed his trust in the central defender, recognizing his value and the key role he played in winning the last European Championship.
The absence of Pablo Barrios, who debuted in the previous international window, is surprising, as is that of Marcos Llorente, whose excellent performance both on the wing and in midfield has not been enough to convince the coach.
Regarding players with a ‘Rojiblanco’ past or future, Samu Omorodion, currently at Porto and with 50% of his rights belonging to Atlético de Madrid, has been called up to the Spanish national team.
Alejandro Iturbe, goalkeeper of the youth team, has been called up for the U-21s, consolidating himself as a regular in Santi Denia’s plans. Despite having only one player on the senior list, the presence of Le Normand is a reason for joy for the ‘Atlético’ family, who trust in his performance and hope to see him shine with the national team.
