Giménez: Resilience and Commitment After the Cup
After the elimination in the Copa del Rey, Josema Giménez raised his voice with a message of self-criticism and hope for the Atlético de Madrid fans.
The Uruguayan defender acknowledged the superiority of the opponent, especially in the first half, and regretted not being able to give the Red and White fans the joy they expected, as they unconditionally accompanied them throughout the tournament.
Giménez highlighted the team’s reaction in the second half, calling it a ‘great match’, although it was not enough to reverse the result. Realistically, he urged his teammates to ‘accept reality’ and focus on what remains of the league season, promising to fight ‘until the end’ to try to achieve the set objectives.
The Colchoneros center-back had words of thanks for the fans, highlighting their constant support and letting them know that they feel and need them. ‘They were always up to the task,’ he said, apologizing for those moments when the team did not know how to respond to that encouragement.
He stressed the importance of the union between the team and the fans, stating that ’together we are much stronger’. For his part, Javi Galán also spoke about the match, recognizing the difficulty of facing an opponent of that level and valuing the team’s reaction in the second half. Aware of the emotional blow, Galán advocated getting up and continuing to work to face the next challenges with optimism and determination.
