Atlético: Still a Road to Travel
Atlético’s season, which began with great expectations and even saw them crowned winter champions, has had a bittersweet ending. Despite the significant investments made to surpass the previous campaign, away performances have been a major burden.
The victories at Mestalla and Sánchez Pizjuán, along with the one achieved in Montjuïc and the draw at the Santiago Bernabéu, contrast with the disappointments suffered in Leganés, Getafe, Las Palmas, Vitoria, Osasuna, or Espanyol.
These defeats have complicated the fight for the runner-up spot, and although the team is expected to finish one place above last season, the results away from the Metropolitano have raised doubts.
Still, Atlético has more than half a ticket to the Spanish Super Cup in their hand, although they must secure their position against pressure from Athletic and Villarreal. Maintaining concentration and avoiding further stumbles is crucial to aspire to that title and secure significant economic income.
After the last away defeat, Koke acknowledged the lack of decisiveness in the areas as a key factor. Atlético faces the challenge of improving their image ahead of the Club World Cup, a tournament that could be key to the arrival of new reinforcements and consolidating the Rojiblanco project.
