Left Backs in Atleti's Sights
Atlético de Madrid is already planning for next season with the aim of strengthening the left-back position, a key area for Simeone. While Javi Galán has performed adequately, the Rojiblancos are looking for a player who can elevate the squad’s level, betting on young talent with great potential.
In this regard, two names stand out on the club’s wish list: Álvaro Carreras and Miguel Gutiérrez. Álvaro Carreras, currently shining at Benfica, has already demonstrated his potential against Atleti at the beginning of the season.
His market value is around 28 million euros, although his release clause amounts to 50 million. Benfica would be willing to negotiate his transfer, but Real Madrid’s interest could complicate the operation. Remember that Carreras trained in the Real Madrid youth academy.
Another target is Miguel Gutiérrez, also from Real Madrid’s youth academy and currently a prominent figure at Girona. Real Madrid has a buy-back option for 8 million, but it doesn’t seem that they will execute it.
However, Real Madrid would receive half of a future sale and would not look favorably on their youth player joining Atlético. Gutiérrez, for his part, would be delighted to return to Madrid to wear the red and white.
His clause is 35 million, but Girona could accept an offer close to 20 million. Juventus and Milan have also shown interest in the player. Atlético is clear that they will strengthen the left-back position with a Spanish player, young, established and with potential. The search for the ideal left-back continues at the Metropolitano.
