Maza Moves Away From The Metropolitano: Xabi Alonso Takes The Lead
Atlético de Madrid had young football promises on their radar, including Ibrahim Maza, striker of Hertha BSC. However, Bayer Leverkusen and Xabi Alonso have moved faster, securing the signing of the promising Algerian for next season’s Bundesliga.
Maza, 19, has signed a contract until 2030 with the German club, frustrating Atlético’s interest. Despite scoring seven goals and providing three assists in 32 games with Hertha BSC, Maza seemed an interesting option to strengthen the Rojiblancos’ attack.
Bayer Leverkusen paid close to 12 million euros for the player, an amount considered a bargain in the current market. Maza is expected to form a powerful offensive duo with Florian Wirtz, helping Bayer Leverkusen aspire to important titles next season, after being eliminated from the Champions League and the Cup, and eight points from the Bundesliga leader. Atlético will have to continue looking for alternatives to strengthen their attack with young talents.
