Supporters Demand Atlético Obtain Original Julián Álvarez Penalty Video
Atlético de Madrid supporters have voiced their concern over an incident they consider crucial to the team’s progress in the Champions League.
Through a burofax sent to the club, the International Union of Supporters Clubs, along with other Atlético groups, are requesting that Atlético demand the original video of the penalty taken by Julián Álvarez in the match against Real Madrid.
The controversy arises from the annulment of the goal, justified by UEFA with a video that, according to expert reports commissioned by the supporters clubs, may have been edited.
This possible manipulation raises doubts about the club’s decision not to challenge the result of the match, a fact that has affected both Atlético’s interests and the fans’ morale.
The supporters clubs demand transparency and request that the club ask UEFA for the original video used by VAR to disallow the goal, based on rule 14.1 of the game.
If UEFA does not provide the video or it does not justify the infringement, the supporters clubs urge Atlético to initiate legal action for the possible alteration of its will not to challenge the match due to a manipulated document.
