Atlético B Misses Out on Playoff Spot
Atlético B drew with Ibiza in a match where they deserved more, but a lack of goalscoring accuracy prevented them from adding three points and, with it, saying goodbye to the dream of fighting for promotion.
The Rojiblanco team dominated the match, especially in the first half, although without generating too many dangerous chances. Iker Luque was Atlético B’s most incisive player, while Ibiza limited themselves to defending and trying not to make mistakes.
In the second half, the script was similar, with an Atlético B fully committed to the attack and an Ibiza retreated. Omar Janneh came close to scoring after a cross from Julio Díaz, but he barely missed the finish.
Adrián Niño hit a free-kick off the crossbar and Ramón, Ibiza’s goalkeeper, made a great save from Niño’s header in the final minutes. Despite the effort and insistence, the goal did not come and the match ended in a draw that leaves Atlético B without options to compete in the promotion playoff. The match was played at Cerro del Espino in front of around 2,000 spectators.
