Morata: Reflections of a Former Atlético Player
Álvaro Morata, in a recent interview, shared his reflections on his departure from Atlético de Madrid. The striker, now at Galatasaray, admitted that, looking back, he might have reconsidered his decision to leave the Colchoneros.
‘If I could go back, I probably wouldn’t have made the decision,’ he confessed. Morata acknowledged that at the time of his departure, influenced by personal factors, he did not adequately value the affection and trust that Simeone and the fans gave him, especially after winning the Champions League.
The Spanish international also spoke about the rivalry in Turkey and his respect for Mourinho. In addition, he gave his opinion on the controversy of the Madrid derby in the Champions League, showing his empathy towards the player involved.
Morata did not rule out a future in Arabia, although he made it clear his desire to retire at Getafe, a club that gave him an opportunity at the beginning. He showed his support for the renewal of Luis de la Fuente as national coach, highlighting the success of the national team and the positive atmosphere within the dressing room.
Finally, Morata expressed his gratitude to the Atlético fans, wishing them the best and reiterating his commitment to the red and white colors: ‘I have always tried to give everything for that shirt. I wish I had won titles. I always try to defend them, I am from Atleti and I want them to always win.’
