Atletico Madrid is leading the league after a great comeback in which they reduced the 10-point gap that separated them from Barcelona seven games ago. This is the eighth time that Simeone’s team has recovered from a rival goal to achieve seven victories and a draw in the derby against Real Madrid.
Although the team that has recouped the most points before becoming champions is Barcelona in the 98-99 season, Atletico’s feat is the second largest in the history of the league, only surpassed by Deportivo in the 2002-03 season. However, Deportivo did not manage to become champions, while Atletico is preparing to receive the 2025 in the lead, three points ahead of Barcelona and with one game less.
