Almeida cheers on Atleti: Go for the Club World Cup!
The Mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez Almeida, took advantage of the Laureus Awards gala in the capital to send an encouraging message to Atlético de Madrid. He acknowledged that, although the season had its ups and downs, he trusts in the fighting spirit of the team.
‘We expected a lot. It’s not the first time it’s happened to us, nor will it be the last. That’s why we are Atleti fans,’ Almeida said, demonstrating his unconditional support for the Rojiblancos.
Almeida, as a fervent supporter of Atleti, did not forget to mention the controversial ‘double touch’ play in the Champions League derby, a thorn that many fans still have in their side. ‘It’s an injustice that day,’ he declared, insisting on the need to clarify what happened with the UEFA video.
‘I want to know what happened with the UEFA video. We must get to the end with what happened for the good of football.’ But looking to the future, Almeida expressed his enthusiasm for the Club World Cup, seeing it as a great opportunity for Atlético.
‘The Club World Cup is a great opportunity for Atleti’. With these words, the mayor breathed optimism into the Colchoneros fans, reminding them that, despite the stumbles, Atleti always rises again and fights for the top. Almeida supports the 50, as an Atlético fan.
