Atlético Seeks Heir to Correa's Legacy
Ángel Correa could be living his last moments as an Atlético de Madrid player. The club is aware of the difficulty in finding a substitute who equals his impact, a player who has alternated starts and substitutions, being key in decisive moments.
Correa has said goodbye to the fans at the Metropolitano, but his departure is not certain as he has a contract until 2026 and the club awaits an offer that meets their expectations. Tigres of Mexico could be his next destination.
Faced with the possible departure of the Argentine, the Rojiblanca management is evaluating options to strengthen the attack. Antoine Griezmann, a fundamental pillar of the team, could assume a more flexible role, alternating starts to dose his minutes and continue to be an important player.
Thiago Almada, also Argentine and with similar characteristics to Correa, is presented as an interesting alternative, although he currently plays in Botafogo after his loan to Lyon.
Other options include free players like Raúl de Tomás, with whom Atlético has already had success in the past with Adrián, or the search for loans like Darwin Núñez, Gonçalo Ramos or Fábio Silva. Atlético already tried to sign Moise Kean in January 2024, but an injury frustrated the agreement. Currently, Kean is showing a great level at Fiorentina.
