Atleti seeks to secure its squad for the Club World Cup
Atlético de Madrid, already qualified with Real Madrid for the Club World Cup, is preparing for its participation in this historic event. After finishing the league season with a match against Girona, the Colchoneros’ management is focusing on ensuring that Cholo Simeone has the best possible squad at his disposal.
However, there are difficulties with two key players: Lenglet and Musso. Both players, on loan from Barcelona and Atalanta respectively, are important pieces in Simeone’s schemes.
Lenglet has played 33 official matches this season, showing solidity in defense, while Musso has performed well in goal, especially in the Copa del Rey. The Rojiblancos’ management is negotiating with their parent clubs to extend their loans until the end of the Club World Cup.
The club secured the participation in the Club World Cup of players such as Witsel or Azpilicueta, whose contracts expire this year by signing until the end of the tournament. There will be no problems with Reinildo or Koke, a special case in every way.
Atlético has no intention of paying for Musso, which could complicate his long-term continuity. Regarding Lenglet, although Barcelona will have to talk to him, the Madrid club will have to negotiate with Barcelona, as he is not in Flick’s plans.
