Thank You, Gameiro! A Colchonero Warrior Says Goodbye
Kevin Gameiro, at 37, has announced his retirement from football, leaving an indelible mark on every team he played for, including our Atleti. Although his time at the Metropolitano was relatively brief, his dedication and commitment were undeniable.
The French striker arrived at Atlético in the 16/17 season, with the difficult task of strengthening the attack. During his time with us, Gameiro played 82 games and scored 27 goals, proving to be a valuable player in the attacking front.
His first season was particularly outstanding, scoring 17 goals that we celebrated with passion in every match. In addition, Gameiro was part of the team that conquered the Europa League in Lyon in 2018, a title we will always remember.
His grit and dedication contributed to achieving European glory, an achievement that will be etched in the club’s history and in the memory of all Atléticos. In his emotional farewell message, Gameiro fondly recalled his time at Atlético de Madrid, thanking everyone who was part of his journey. From Atleti, we wish him all the best in this new stage and thank him for his dedication and professionalism defending our colors. Thank you for everything, Kevin!
