Barrios Follows in Koke's Footsteps: A Red and White Legacy
Congratulations, Pablo Barrios! The youth player has reached the incredible milestone of 100 games defending our colors. An achievement that he celebrated by receiving a commemorative plaque from President Enrique Cerezo, recognizing his growing importance and outstanding performances at Atleti.
Barrios, considered the natural heir to our captain Koke, shares much more with him than just the position on the field. Both, Madrid-born youth players, demonstrate dedication, talent, and a special connection with the red and white fans.
But the most surprising coincidence is that Barrios reached 100 games at the same age as Koke, just a few months apart! In addition, fate wanted both to celebrate this milestone against the same opponent, Real Sociedad, with more than a decade difference.
Barrios, thrilled, thanked the support of his family, teammates, coaching staff, and fans, showing his enthusiasm to continue adding games with Atleti. Koke has publicly expressed his admiration for Barrios, recognizing his talent and the importance of the red and white youth academy.
Barrios, for his part, is grateful and humble, aware that he still has a lot ahead. Barrios joins Koke and Saúl as the youngest youth players to reach 100 games in the Simeone era, a fact that reflects the great future that awaits him. We are eager to see Barrios continue to shine at the Metropolitano!
