Maximum Security at the Metropolitano for Atlético-Real Madrid

The Metropolitano was heavily guarded with a strong police presence for the crucial match between Atlético de Madrid and Real Madrid. More than 550 National Police officers, belonging to various specialized units, were deployed by land and air to ensure security and prevent hate speech during the match.

The main focus was on preventing any manifestations of racism or violence, with officers monitoring security cameras inside the stadium to identify and expel offenders, and even proceed with their arrest.

From the afternoon, troops from the UIP, Cavalry, Underground, Prevention and Reaction Units, Mobile Brigade, Provincial Information Brigade and Aerial Media joined the operation.

The Underground team meticulously inspected the galleries near the stadium, while helicopters and drones monitored both the interior and exterior. An ‘anti-drone’ system was implemented to neutralize any unauthorized flying object.

The police recalled the prohibition of entering the stadium with dangerous objects and alcohol, recommending that the 69,000 fans arrive in advance to facilitate security checks. This deployment is part of a larger device organized by the Government Delegation, which had 1,500 troops.

In addition to the National Police, the Civil Guard, Madrid Municipal Police, Mobility agents, Samur-Civil Protection, firefighters, Red Cross and club security personnel collaborated. Security was also reinforced in the Madrid Metro. A coordinated effort so that Colchoneros fans could enjoy the game in complete tranquility.
