Miró raises his voice: Why are the 'Colchoneros' ignored?
The well-known pundit Gonzalo Miró has expressed his frustration with what he considers a constant snub towards Atlético de Madrid players by the national sports press.
During his participation in ‘El Partidazo de la Cope’, Miró criticized that, despite the outstanding performance of ‘Colchoneros’ footballers in international matches, headlines and media recognition tend to favor players from other clubs, mainly Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Miró referred to the recent match between Argentina and Brazil, where several Atlético players played an important role. He pointed out that, despite the goals of Julián Álvarez and Giuliano Simeone, an academy player on loan, the chronicles focused on figures from other teams.
“We understand that yesterday’s Argentina was starred by goals from Atlético de Madrid,” he quipped, lamenting that the ‘Rojiblanca’ contribution is ignored. He even mentioned Matheus Cunha, formerly of Atlético, as another example of a player with a ‘Colchonero’ past who participated in the match.
Atlético de Madrid was particularly affected by the last international break, with up to eleven players called up by their respective countries. This situation, added to the lack of recognition towards ‘Rojiblancos’ footballers, generates a feeling of injustice among the fans and figures like Gonzalo Miró, who do not hesitate to raise their voices in defense of the club and its players.
