Former Atlético de Madrid Femenino player and legend Amanda Sampedro has returned to the club as coordinator of the women’s high-performance teams in the Academy.

Sampedro, who joined the club’s youth teams at the age of 9 and made her debut with the first team at the age of 15, became one of the team’s captains at the age of 18 and led the team to win the first five titles in its history: the Copa de la Reina, three consecutive league championships and a Spanish Super Cup. “Atlético Madrid strengthens commitment to Guayaquil Academy”

Atlético Madrid president Enrique Cerezo visited the club’s Academy in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The Academy, which was inaugurated in July 2023, has monitored more than 10,000 children in the last year.

At the event, Cerezo highlighted the importance of the project and his commitment to the Junta de Beneficencia de Guayaquil. A deal was also signed for the Academy to manage 23 of the 30 municipal pitches in the city. Club Unión Collado Villalba has become Atlético de Madrid’s feeder club for the upcoming season, after the agreement of affiliation between both entities was accepted by the Royal Spanish Football Federation.

The Villalba team will compete as Atlético de Madrid’s feeder club in Group 7 of Tercera RFEF for ten years. During the first season, the team will maintain its current colors and name, but it is expected that in the 2025-26 season, the name Atlético de Madrid C will be adopted and the traditional red and white uniform will be used. The planning of this first campaign will be under the responsibility of Atlético de Madrid’s general football management, which will designate the technical team and decide the configuration of the squad.
